Stat Profile Critical Care Xpress is a consolidated stat analyzer with up to 20 measured whole blood tests plus 29 calculated tests on board. Thirteen standard menus provide a choice of popular critical care assays.

Beyond these standard menus, a Critical Care Xpress can be configured with any custom test menu that is created from the Critical Care Xpress menu choices.

Color Touchscreen Operation

Stat Profile Critical Care Xpress features a large 10″ color touch screen interface with intuitive, on-screen prompted operation. Screens can be user-defined based on site-specific work flow and user needs.

Automated, On-Board QC

The automated, on-board QC system eliminates the steps involved in manually performing quality control thereby dramatically reducing labor costs.

• Snap-in, tri-level QC packs are on board the instrument and are programmed to analyze at preset intervals

SmartCheck Automated Maintenance

SmartCheck allows the operator to initiate maintenance on the touch screen and then walk away from the analyzer. Priming, calibration, and quality control are all performed automatically and correctly. SmartCheck software not only frees the operator from performing maintenance, it reduces downtime by up to one hour compared to other analyzers.

No Gas Tanks

An innovative, liquid-only calibration system eliminates bulky compressed gas tanks, gas regulators, gas tubing lines, and humidifiers. Instead, a single, snap-in reagent pack contains all required liquid and gas calibrators. The reagent pack includes a sealed waste container that stores sample and reagent waste.

On-Board CO-Oximeter

For applications requiring a more comprehensive hemoglobin profile, Stat Profile Critical Care Xpress offers integrated on-board CO-Oximetry. The CO-Oximeter offers a combination of eight measured and calculated hemoglobin and oxygen transport tests including:

Small Sample Volume

Stat Profile Critical Care Xpress is an important contributer to blood conservation. Blood gases can be performed on as little as 60 microliters of whole blood while a full 20 test panel requires only 210 microliters of sample.

Small Size

Although the Stat Profile Critical Care Xpress incorporates more on-board tests than any other critical care analyzer, it is elegantly designed with an overall size of only 17 in (H) x 22 in (W) x 17 in (D) (44 x 57 x 44 cm) and a footprint of just 2.5 square feet (2500 cm2). Critical Care Xpress is 20-40% smaller than comparable instruments and is easily transported on its mobile cart.

Method – Freezing Point Depression Osmometry
Osmometry measures the total molar concentration of dissolved solids in any solution. The freezing point of a solution is depressed in direct relation to the amount of solute in solution.

Gram-Hücker Staining

Gram-Hücker staining is based on the same principle than the Gram-Nicolle staining. The structure of the bacterial walls and their permeability to alcohol help differentiate the Gram-negative bacteria from the Gram-positive ones. In this technique, Carbolic Gentian Violet is replaced by Crystal Violet Oxalate (that does not require filtration) and Ziehl-Carbolic Fuchsin by Safranin.

Fluorescent Staining

Kit Fluo-RAL offers a rapid method for the identification of mycobacteria or Acid Fast Bacilli (AFB). The penetration by the discolouring agent of the highly specific structure of the wall is hardly possible. This property enables the AFB to retain the fluorescent yellow-green colour of the auramine after discolouration with acid and alcohol. The other non-acid-alcohol-resistant bacteria and cell elements are counter-stained red thanks to Thiazine Red.

Hot Staining

Staining according to Ziehl-Neelsen, reference method
Standard Ziehl-Neelsen staining can be performed with RAL ZN Staining kit as recommended by the WHO and IUATLD. Ready-to-use, it leads to a reliable and reproducible diagnosis in 15 mn. The Acid Fast Bacilli appear pink against the blue background of the preparation.

Staining according to Ziehl-Armand, 2-step variation of Ziehl-Neelsen technique
Using Armand Solution leads to simultaneously discolour all the bacteria (except mycobacteria) and colour the background of the preparation.

Fast Cold Staining

Using this kit prevents from heating slides and breathing carbolic toxic fumes. This staining is very quick and usable on all types of substrates (expectorations, cultures …). The sensitivity is equal to the one obtained with classical hot methods. Mycobacteria appear pink against the blue background of the slide.

MCDh, for blood and bone marrow cell differentiation and couting

MCDh is a panoptic May-Grünwald Giemsa (MGG) type staining method. Methanol free, it is made of a sequence of four specific reagents use in blood and bone marrow cell differentiation and counting. This new generation of stains is in line with the standardization trend in diagnostic techniques. Unlike more traditional stains, all MCDh reagents are fast and ready to use. As no dilution is needed, consistency and standardisation are guaranteed.

In an acid environment, ferric ions react with potassium ferrocyanide what leads to a precipitate called Ferric Ferrocyanide (Prussian blue). It points out the presence of a pathological pigment: Haemosiderin.

Staining for the Detection of Lipids

Sudan Black stain proves to be insoluble in aqueous media, but soluble in lipidic and alcoholic media. In a buffered phosphatized medium and in presence of alcohol, sudanophilic granules catch the stain and appear dark blue, whereas cytoplasm of the cells remains colorless.
